So you have missed going to the gym for a month at a stretch. Or three months. How to proceed? Chances are high that you are criticizing yourself or your irresponsible behavior. Stop doing so. Yelling it yourself for not going to the gym regularly is not going to offer any advantages.
Rather, it is only going to create a crisis inside you where one side justifies your laziness and the other side calls for punishment. Nine times out of ten, this process is going to end in an adjournment where neither side is prepared to take the final step. So, how to overcome this problem?
Forget the past. Focus on today. Find out whether you can go to the gym today. If not, find out whether you can go for a ten minute walk today. If you have a busy schedule ahead, how about now? If you do not have all your gym accessories in hand, why not go without it? As you push your body and as you force yourself to take an immediate decision, you will find that your hesitation to exercise is exposed.
Once this is done, you will find it very easy to overcome the problem. You may still not be in a position to exercise immediately. Yet, you will stop attaching too much importance to the various arguments that you make about lack of time or lack of motivation.
The important thing here is to be proactive and progressive. If you want motivation, why don’t you log on to the internet and chat with others who have committed the same mistake? Knowing that you can overcome this problem and enjoy success is probably the best way to proceed.
