Benefits of a Good Stretch

Fewer things are more important in health and fitness that a solid stretching routine. Indeed, the weekend warrior who loves a pick-up game of basketball or a good game of football with his friends could find himself in serious trouble without a solid pregame stretch. Those who choose not to stretch before competing do so at their own peril. Here are just a few of the benefits to stretching before working out.

1.) Helps your overall posture. Not only does stretching loosen your muscles, but it will help to keep them flexible. We have all felt lower back pain diving across the middle for a football pass but a muscle pull in the back is not necessary. it’s completely avoidable with a good stretch. it also improves your balance if you stretch regularly.

2.) Proper muscle flushing- When your muscles get stiff, they tend to build up lactic acid. By stretching your muscles, you allow the lactic acid to get flushed out of your system.

3.) Preventing injuries- Perhaps the most important thing you are doing by stretching your muscles is preventing injuries. Muscle pulls, muscle tears and even worse things can happen if you don’t stretch properly. Depending on what you are doing, there are designated stretches for you to partake in. A runners stretches might not necessarily be the same as a basketball players stretches. Neither a basketball player or a runner is likely to have the same stretches as a shot put thrower. The best thing you can do is check out the internet and score the right stretches for the activities you do the most.

Stretching is not something to bypass or take lightly. There are times when you need to let go of direct tv and the likes to have a healthier lifestyle. If you’re like me, you love to play sports. There is no sense in letting some stretching stand in your way to fun in sports. Don’t get injured, instead, stretch those muscles!
